Spring Chickens

It’s been really quiet on the blog. The long, dark and cold winter put me in a photography rut. But spring is here and we can finally go outside again. The chickens are enjoying it just as much as the kids. And I enjoy capturing our “real” life – messy yard, kids with torn pants and paint stains and most likely chicken poop. I was just trying to take a few photos of the kids hanging with the chickens dust bathing. It was their idea to do a little shoot with Goldie, the only chicken that likes to be picked up.

Happy – 24/52

happy

This makes me happy on so many levels. Little boys getting muddy and having fun, not even realizing how much they are learning about life, where their food comes from, having responsibilities and being close to nature. Learning to appreciate all those little things I remember from my childhood which made me the person I am today.

We have Babies! 23/52

happy faces

This was a surprise. They were 2 days early. I was checking under Mama and there were 4 little fluffballs. The kids were so excited. Since I picked them up to check them over anyway I let each of them hold a baby for a second. Mama is friendly and didn’t mind.
