Spring Chickens

It’s been really quiet on the blog. The long, dark and cold winter put me in a photography rut. But spring is here and we can finally go outside again. The chickens are enjoying it just as much as the kids. And I enjoy capturing our “real” life – messy yard, kids with torn pants and paint stains and most likely chicken poop. I was just trying to take a few photos of the kids hanging with the chickens dust bathing. It was their idea to do a little shoot with Goldie, the only chicken that likes to be picked up.

Sprouts – 15/52

sprouts

It was warm enough to sow some lettuce and spinach this week but that will take a while to grow and I was really craving some fresh greens. So I sprouted some lentils. Who knew the lentils you buy at the grocery store would actually start to grow. They are a great addition to salads and sandwiches.

I can’t wait to shoot outside again without my fingers feeling like they will fall off. This little guy was sitting in the sun right outside my window looking all cute and fluffy. It was sunny but cold and he seemed to really enjoy soaking up the rays. This was taken through window, screen and storm window – at least my hands stayed warm.
